Years Tattooing: 6.5 years
Favourite Style: Illustrative pieces and realism
The man, the myth, the legend. Paulie (as he is affectionately known) was born an artist, and lucky for us he’s excelled in tattooing and has joined our great team at Ink Remedy. Having worked with different mediums over a long period, his realism and surrealism art turns heads wherever it is located, whether it’s on the skin, a canvas, a skateboard or a wall.
So without further ado, let’s see what inspires one of the most gentlest dudes you’ve ever met, and what (if anything) might make him tick!
What’s the largest art work you’ve ever done?
I was lucky enough to be commissioned for the interior and exterior mural at the Caboose Bar in Mt Lawley, attached to the Flying Scotsman, which had a total surface area of about 28 square metres. It’s great as it’s quite a busy area and bar, so plenty of people get to check it out
What drove you towards realism in tattooing?
I think I just really liked the challenge of recreating something as close to how the eye sees it as possible, and the reward of that life like representation, especially on the skin is an amazing feeling
Now, you’re a pretty gentle and cruisy guy, is there anything that really gets under your skin?
For the most part, I try not to let things phase me, however any form of cruelty towards animals really gets on my nerves
Ah Paulie, I think all of our hearts just melted a bit then! *Ahem* if you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I’d have to choose either Holland, where I was lucky enough to spend a bit of time in or Japan, which is just… the best really!
We heard from a little bird, that you might’ve grown up with a few graffiti artists… every been in trouble with the law?
Haha, who have you been speaking to?! But no, luckily enough the only time I’ve been to jail was playing Monopoly
That’s fair enough, we can’t imagine you’re the sort of person to be in any sort of trouble! So last question Paulie, who are your favourite artists?
Craola, Dmitriy Samohin, Nosego…. To be honest, there’s too many great artists out there for me to list, but these guys are pretty damn amazing!
